Our diet is very important for our general health, which is why we are always advised to maintain a healthy diet. This blog has dedicated much of its postings on how to stay healthy and maintain not only healthy teeth but also prevent some of the common oral diseases. There is an additional reward to maintaining a healthy diet:-healthy gums. Foods that are high in sugar and starches build up bacteria in your mouth that not only give you bad breath but can result in gum disease.

Besides brushing and flossing your teeth, a healthy diet will keep you from being vulnerable to gum disease. Foods that are especially rich in Vitamins A, C, D, and E, and calcium are beneficial to your gums. While taking a multivitamin is a good start, including foods that are rich in these vitamins like fresh fruits, vegetables, and fish, should be a must in your diet.  Additionally, calcium is found to have elements that fight plaque that builds up from bacteria. Calcium is not only good for you, but it is a known nutrient that builds healthy bones. That includes your teeth. Stronger teeth will lead to healthier gums and prevent you from the possibility of losing your teeth. Prevention is always better than cure.
