“White teeth, pearly teeth – so beautiful. I used to look at pictures of men or women smiling, and I used to think, ‘Omigosh. What a beautiful smile! I wish I could have that smile for myself!’” said Jennifer. “And then I realized I could have that smile for myself.”
Jennifer’s Story
Jennifer came to us because, like many people, she wanted the striking smile she would see of others in photographs. But that’s not all that Jennifer wanted. She was concerned with the overall health of her mouth.
“With age, your teeth really take a beating, and growing up, I really didn’t take care of my teeth.”
During the consultation, Jennifer asked that we look at the health of her whole mouth. She expressed concern that she sometimes experienced tenderness in her gums. She wanted to make sure that both her teeth and gums were taken care of, which was great because we are focused on whole mouth health. A cosmetically beautiful smile will not stay that way for long without a foundation of good oral health. Jennifer was eager to learn more about oral care, and we were happy to answer all of her questions. We love curiosity in our patients!

Eventually, after talking everything over with Jennifer, Dr. Mello and Dr. Tabib recommended having her full upper arch restored. “At one point, a couple of my teeth were in really bad health, so I could continue to fill them and do all this other work to them, or just replace them.” With guidance from Dr. Mello and Dr. Tabib, she decided to have them extracted. So, is Jennifer happy with her smile? “They’ve met and exceeded my expectations. I love my smile. I really do. And I look forward to the next step. Right now, I feel as though I can smile, whereas before, I felt like my teeth weren’t nice enough to be exposed for any length of time.” “I think sitting down with someone who cares about your mouth, as I care about my own mouth, and to give me good ideas and suggestions about what I can do – I feel I can recommend my daughter to them.
